It's the little things that make tours special

Amazingly alert for 1am local time or 6:30am Sydney time. |
Firstly, nineteen boys departed Sydney airport and nineteen checked into the lovely Mt. Lavinia Hotel at 2am local time this morning. When the sun rises, the coaches will check that it's the same 19 Barker boys who carried themselves exceptionally during the day of transit.

Looking dapper in their official touring uniform. |
Whether it's recreations of scenes from the Hobbit at your hotel or iPads outside the public restroom at Singapore airport asking users to rate their facilities (sorry, no touching or pics of that) visiting another country always has some surprises for tourists.

A little touch of NZ in Sri Lanka... |
Everyone arrived at Sydney Airport on time and with passports - pats on the back all round for parents and players. A sumptuous lunch and on-time boarding followed for our trip to Singapore. It was uneventful except for temporary outages of the entertainment system and occasional mocking of staff who were not used to turning right when boarding. The frown turned to a smile at Singapore when tourist Hodge informed staff that you could claim a $20 voucher if you showed your boarding pass - the endorphin rush from multiple free Toblerones was priceless.

The coaches decided to travel via a Bostonian restaurant while in transit. Definitely this coach's highlight from Day 1. |
All was on schedule for the second part of our journey, but a midnight flight is always interesting. Lights barely off for the 4 hours, interesting smelling fish for supper and passengers sitting where they want. The main thing was we arrived in Colombo alert and with all our baggage.
|
Colombo from the air at night. |
We checked in, some had showers and most were asleep quickly after a long day. Game 1 vs Colts is tomorrow and the Barker Boys and hoping to start strong.

The view from Mt. Lavinia hotel early in the morning. |
